- Travel Time
- --:--:--
This is a tool for the sci-fi space game Elite: Dangerous to calculate the time it takes to travel between two given points in a star system while traveling in supercruise (faster-than-light). The game uses a system called "supercruise" to travel between planets and other distant objects in a star system. However, the game does not provide a way to calculate the amount of time it will take to travel between two given points in a star system. This tool is designed to fill that gap.
The mass of the stars and planets has an impact on the rate of acceleration of your ship, and it varies from system to system. As such, you shouldn't expect the timer to be 100% accurate. In my testing, there is a margin of error of about 5%. So if your trip has an estimated time of 5 minutes, the actual travel time should be somewhere between 4 minutes 45 seconds and 5 minutes 15 seconds.
Enter the distance you wish to travel into the text field and select your unit of distance. The moment your ship enters supercruise, click the "Start" button to begin. The timer will reach zero when you reach your destination (with some margin of error), and you will hear a pleasant sound to alert you. To reset the timer back to the original time, click the "Reset" button.
Please note: alarm audio may not work properly on some web browsers.
